Progress on mechanicals

I utilized a local shop to get some "Lift" time to get some heavy lifting done. Engine, transmission, drive line, brakes, suspension, gas tank, and exhaust. Just running parts and keeping track of all the jobs has kept me pretty busy over the last week or two..  It feels really good to see such a big chunk of progress.







This was the 283 engine that we took out of the car.  We totally rebuilt it (and the transmission) quite some time ago and it has been waiting to be put back in.  The front clip (fenders and such) was fitted up at the body shop but was held off to facilitate the engine install.  The engine is not yet been run but I am quite a few steps closer to making that happen.



I bought a "package" conversion system for modern brakes. New master cylinder, and front disk brakes.  The disks were installed when the frame was built and now all the parts have been connected, bled, and tested.  I can check "Brakes" off the list.


HEI distributor eliminates points, new intake manifold and new carb (not yet installed)



 The back bumper had to be installed to ensure the correct location for the tailpipes.
Because these cars were noted to be a bit squirrely in the ass end I decided to add a rear stabilizing bar tying the rear end to the frame. Also put in 4 new gas shocks. We had an exhaust system installed prior to doing the full frame off restoration and this was also reinstalled with minor modifications.


 
 



Gas tank, fill pipe (from the back fin), and fuel line all the way to the engine mounted fuel pump are in. Transmission cooling tubes also installed.

The list goes on but that was the big stuff.  Now she is back in my shop for final assembly and fit out.  There is quite a lot to do yet to make this thing road worthy.
