Headliner Install

The headliner installation was quite a bit more work than I first thought.  There was about a half a mile of rubber tack strip that had to be attached first.  Some of it is held in with fold over metal cleats or tabs.  Some of it needed to be pop riveted.  In places it needed a double layer to make it flush.

On top of the Cool-it insulation we glued a carpet mat type insulation to the roof.  This will make it quieter and easier to heat or stay cool.

Wind Lace was installed around the doors and liftgate.  Some metal cleats hold this together over the doors and provides a place to tuck the headliner in. It was tough to find these cleats. Nobody makes them for the 4 door wagon.  I got them from an old timer's salvage yard out in the Midwest.

We did save the original rods or bows cleaned them all up and kept them in order.  The guy I found to do the install, Ron, said that this wasn't the biggest headliner he ever put in.  He had done a Limousine once but this one was next in line. He put it in over a few days and charged me for 15 hours.  Nice guy, knowledgeable, experienced, and pretty efficient.
